Learn the basics of this transformative and powerful, ancient practice. All bodies welcome to these four, ninety minute classes, where you will learn a brief history of Kundalini yoga and develop an understanding of Kundalini pranayam (breath work) mantra (the science of sound) and asana. Clear your central channel and open your mind with these accessible classes. Melissa will assist you in choosing a set that you can practice on your own after the series is complete.
Melissa has been practicing yoga daily for over a decade. Formerly a dedicated runner, she discovered yoga when a bad case of plantar fasciitis made regular running nearly impossible. She began practicing yoga every day and after less than a week was able to run again normally. Beyond that, she felt a level of health and wellness that was a completely new experience. Six years later Melissa began teacher training at Kula in Toronto, where she was given the tools she needed to share her experience with others. Melissa is trained in Hatha yoga, restorative, yin and pre-natal and she has practiced in the Iyengar tradition extensively. But it is Kundalini Yoga that she is truly passionate about. It is an energetic journey that offers all who practice it freedom and ease in the body, a joyful heart, and a peaceful soul. She is excited and humbled to be able to share Kundalini yoga with the community of Arrive Yoga and the city of Guelph.
